I’m a freelance writer covering politics, health care and parenting in the midwest. Previously I’ve worked as a grassroots organizer for a reproductive rights organization and in a social work capacity for a community health center. My favorite topics to write about include reproductive justice, health care access and maternal mental health. Check out my full portfolio HERE.
I started this blog in 2011 as an unemployed college grad with dual degrees in journalism and political science. After a couple short stints reporting for newspapers, I took a turn toward political advocacy and have since been focused on creating a career that combines the two.
I live in the Kansas City area with my husband, labradoodle and two kids. I love running, cooking and traveling so those topics will show up here as well! Thanks for stopping by.

November 28, 2016 2:15 AMThis is the Texas Hegers – Hi! Hope all is well. I just thought you may be interested in signing a petition to get an audit of the election results – see petition at https://www.change.org/p/demand-an-audit-of-the-2016-presidential-election
Statisticians have been requesting for about a decade that all election results be officially audited at every election to verify results. This year, more than ever, it is a time this becomes reality. If you agree, please sign – I (Nancy) did.
